About Studio Omelet
How it started
I loved thrift shopping years before I started with Studio Omelet. There, I saw so many things that were still fine and they were just waiting for someone to give them a new life again. So that’s what I wanted to do. This came together with my love for creating art. I was always busy being creative and before I started, I was doing a lot of illustration. So, I combined these two things together and begin to paint on pots and other ceramics I found in the thrift shop. I was making unique secondhand hand painted items.
But through time I wanted Studio Omelet to be more than just upcycled ceramics. I aspired for it to become a space where people could learn about sustainability in a fun way. That’s why you’ll also discover a blog here, featuring entertaining do-it-yourself (D.I.Y.) projects related to upcycling and various other sustainable tips and tricks.
I divided Studio omelet in four ingredients:
- Upcycled ceramics and curated finds
These are items that I think deserve a second life. They are either curated or upcycled from the thrift shop. My main point from these is that they are fun and affordable. - Upcycled clothing
In addition to the products, I also like to upcycle clothes. These garments have been carefully upcycled and transformed into fashionable and contemporary designs. I really love to turn old clothing that never gets worn anymore into pieces that you can’t stop wearing. - Online inspiration
This part is to give people the recourses and inspiration they need to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. Speaking from personal experience, I acknowledge that living sustainably is something I aspire to, but it’s not always clear how to go about it. You can find these recourses and inspiration on the blog but also on the social media platforms. - Workshops
I’m also busy giving workshops. Those are focussed on upcycling in a fun way. They go from bringing your own clothing items and seeing what we can do with them to making things from scrap material. There is so many things already made that we can use and make beautiful things of again.
Together this forms the Studio Omelet world.
