Upcycle your suit with some cool pictures
I had this beige suit laying around that I never really worn anymore. And when I was scrolling trough YouTube I found @LainiOzark’s video about how she glued some pictures on her pants. This inspired me to make this D.I.Y. suit which you can handwash!
What you need:
– printed pictures you like (mirrored)
– scissors
– mod podge photo transfer medium
– brush or sponge brush
– a piece of fabric or clothing you want to D.I.Y.
– some carton to put under the glued pieces
– sponge and water
First I searched for the pictures that I would like on my suit. Before you print, make sure to mirror them, unless it doesn’t matter ofcourse. Then it’s time to print them out and cut them.
Using Procreate, I used a random picture of a beige suit and put all the pictures I had on them to see where I wanted to place them. This way I could make a nice composition. This step is optional but for me it was better because I used a lot of pictures. You can also just lay it picture side up on the clothing item.
Now it’s time to glue! Put the mod podge on the picture side and make sure to use a lot of it. You need to cover it all that you can’t really see the picture anymore. Put it directly on the fabric or clothing you are using. Check if the corners have enough glue and are really sticking. Otherwise you can rub that off accidentally later and then the picture won’t have sharp edges anymore. But make sure to get the excess glue at the sides off, otherwise you will still see it when it’s dry.
Wait for 24 hours. When that’s done, you can make the paper wet with a sponge and start to peel it of. This you can do with a cloth or a towel but I found out that was to harsh. I eventually just used my fingers to get it off. It can be a bit hazy when it is becoming dry, I found out that that is still the paper and you can rub that off also. Just be careful when doing this because you can also rub the picture off.
Now let it dry for 3 days to cure it. After this you can just wash it in cool water or hand wash it.
Now go out and wear it!
